Getting Carried Away

Getting Carried Away

Nice to meet you. 👋 Welcome to my little corner of internet chaos—fun, unpredictable, and full of heart.

I’m Nickie (hi, hello!)—a once-bored SAHM with a fine arts degree, two sass-packed tweens, and a talent for overthinking (fueled by way too much coffee). One day, I decided it was time to turn my daydreams into something real.

Now, here we are at the very first Love Issues—and yes, it’s a pun. 😉 But it’s more than that. This newsletter is about navigating the ups and downs of chasing dreams, embracing who you are, and learning to love the process (even when it’s messy).

For years, I dreamed of making clothes that felt like me. Imposter syndrome tried to stop me, but I told it to sit down.

Here’s the tea ☕: I was born Deaf, and no, it’s not a tragedy. The real tragedies? Crocs with socks. Fine. Microwaving fish at work? Absolutely not. Life threw me some wild cards, but being Deaf? That’s my secret superpower.

So, why start a clothing line?

Have you ever looked around and thought, nothing here really gets me? Same.

I was tired of seeing stuff that didn’t match my vibe. I wanted something different and fun—and wasn’t, you know, cringe.

👉 Enter: Lovecore Apparel.

Think classic “I Love You” (ILY) hand signs in ASL 🤟, but make it modern, make it cool, and sprinkle in a little IDGAF energy.

Now, about that ILY hand sign—it’s a big deal in Deaf culture. A symbol of love and connection. Some people call it cheesy (I used to roll my eyes too 🙄).

But then I thought, why not give it a glow-up? That’s how Lovecore was born: with designs that celebrate identity, confidence, and not giving two hoots about fitting in.

Here’s the real talk:

I spent years trying to prove I was “enough.” Spoiler alert: I already was.

If you’ve ever doubted yourself, this is for you. Lovecore is my love letter 💌 to anyone who’s ever felt insecure, underestimated, or just over it.

Every piece I create is a reminder to own your story, embrace your quirks, and love yourself—loudly and proudly.

What’s in This Newsletter for You?

This isn’t just my story—it’s for you. Here’s what to expect:

• News from Lovecore HQ

• Cool finds and inspo I’m obsessed with

• Style and self-care tips

• Deaf culture buzz (true biz, it’s juicy)

Think this is something you’d love? Let’s take this journey together.

Lovecore HQ: What’s Been Happening

• First Drop: My debut piece—a long-sleeved henley top—dropped on Black Friday, and people are loving it. They’re calling it comfy, cute, and easy to wear. It’s limited edition and stock is flying—once it’s gone, it’s gone! If you haven’t snagged one yet, what are you waiting for?

• All the Feels: I’ve been absolutely floored by the support. Like, tears-in-my-coffee-cup kind of overwhelmed. Some bold names in the Deaf community even snagged one. I’m still picking my jaw up off the floor.

• First Giveaway: Teamed up with the lovely Rach from @suchalovelyred for my first-ever giveaway! Not only was it awesome, but it also helped spread the word about Lovecore. (Thanks, Rach—you’re a gem!)

• Second Drop: Socks from the Love Chatter collection! Cozy, cute, and with heart—$1 from every pair sold went to Off-The-Grid Missions to support Deaf and disabled evacuees impacted by California wildfires. Because giving back? Always in style.

• Coming Soon: March brings PJ short sets. Whether you’re lounging or snacking in bed (no judgment), they’re going to be your new fave.

• Secret Project Alert: Working with a crazy-talented Deaf illustrator on something fresh. I can’t spill all the beans just yet, but here’s a hint: men, you’re gonna love it. Stay tuned.

What I’m Loving Right Now (Because Sharing Is Caring):

• TV Show: Shrinking on Apple TV+. Can we take a moment for Harrison Ford? The man is still kicking butt at 82. The show is the perfect mix of laugh-out-loud humor and gut-punch drama. Plus, Jessica Williams (Gabby) is serving killer looks every episode. Her wardrobe? Straight fire.

• Book: The Dose Effect by T.J. Power. This book is connecting all the dots between lifestyle and brain chemistry. Mood, motivation, well-being—it’s all there. Total game-changer if you’ve ever wondered, “Why am I like this?”

• Skincare: Sun & Moo Skincare’s The Beautiful Serum (bakuchiol oil). I slather it on at night, and boom—hydrated, happy skin by morning. Pairing it with The Beautiful One tallow balm has been my savior. Winter skin? Never heard of her.

• Clothing Obsession: Mother Denim socks. Their cheeky little message is a whole mood. Perfect for those days when everything goes sideways. Let’s just say they’ve become my daily uniform (wink).

• Sweet Tooth Fix: Spring & Mulberry’s dark chocolate. Listen, it’s basically art: cacao beans, dates, bee pollen, rose petals, lavender. Six ingredients, all organic, and absolutely divine. It’s almost too pretty to eat. (Almost.)

What’s Next?

Look out for the next issue landing in your inbox next month! I’ll share the story behind my first product launch (hint: it wasn’t all glitz and glamour). Plus, you’ll get a sneak peek at what’s dropping in March.

Got questions, thoughts, or just want to say hey? Hit reply—I’d love to hear from you!

That’s it for now. Thanks for sticking around—big love 🫶 from me to you. Let’s make this ride unforgettable.

XO,
Nickie
